COPAIBA
Copaifera officinalis, C. reticulata, C. coriacea, C. langdorffi

Copaiba is one of the most potent substances on Earth for creating a healthy inflammatory response in all body systems.  It is also used for discomforts of all types and is an incredibly potent option for liver health.

Circulation/lymph:
Use Copaiba in a massage to create a health inflammatory response and to ease physical discomforts, both central and peripheral.  It is a stimulant to circulatory and lymph systems and helps to regulate blood and body fluids, vascular health, stiffness, structural issues, and problems with the heart.

Digestive:
Apply topically to abdomen or chest (depending on the origin of the issue) for poor digestive health related to the stomach or intestines and for symptoms of poor digestion.

Immune system/longevity:
Copaiba is excellent for supporting cellular health and normal cell death.  It is also something for your tool bag to address immune health.  Weakness in the throat, tonsils, lungs, sinuses, and immune defense system in general will benefit from diffusion, topical application, or internal use of Copaiba. (Avoid internal/oral use during pregnancy and with children under six-years-old.)

Detoxification:
This oil is a supreme option for liver support.  Try applying Copaiba over the liver before sleeping for general support of liver function.

Nervous system:
Diffuse Copaiba or make a roller bottle to apply down the spine and over the kidneys for nervous exhaustion.  Some may find that this is better to do in the morning.

Reproductive:
Bathe with Copaiba when the immune or cellular health of the reproductive system are challenged.  Apply warm poultice the the effected area for a stronger, more localized effect.

Pregnancy and childbirth:
Think of this oil during pregnancy for all types of discomforts, including rectal, for labor pain, and to support mood and healthy, controlled discharge of fluids after birth.  Also consider it for postpartum perineum or Cesarean care.  Heavier dilution and more moderate use recommended during pregnancy and with children under six.

Respiratory system:
All kinds of respiratory issues will benefit from Copaiba, as it would from all of the resins and tree-derived oils we offer (Siberian Fir, Frankincense, Sandalwood, Cypress).  This of it for phlegmy conditions.

Urinary system:
Support urinary system health (including that special issue that women have with sneezing and leaking after having a baby.)

Skin care:
Use for all sorts of skin issues, including teen-age issues and supporting tissue recovery.  It is cleansing and can be added to a skin wash for general use or self-care after a tissue damage.

Mood:
Copaiba has a deep, beautiful scent (to my taste).  It elevates the mood, lifting a depressed mindset, and making its user more comfortable within their self and situation.   Laura Jacobs describes this oil as commanding, comforting, and magnifying.

Other uses:
Dental health

How Does Copaiba Compare to CBD

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a group of endogenous (internal) cannabinoid receptors located in the mammalian brain and throughout the CNS.  We have both CB1 receptors and CB2 receptors that, when exposed to cannabinoids, change the way the body functions.
  • CB1 receptors effect brain and nervous system are responsible for memory, sleep, mood, appetite, and pain sensation.
  • CB2 receptors effect endocrine and immune systems and are responsible for anti-inflammatory effects.

There are three main types of Cannabinoids derived from plants:
CannaBiDiol- CBD (from Cannabis)
  • Present in low qualities or not at all
  • Does not act directly on CB receptors
  • Does not translate .02% is found in essential oil and only takes an indirect route
TetraHydroCannabinol- THC (from Cannabis)
  • Interacts with CB1 and CB2
  • Stimulates psychoactive effects- high levels in hemp oil
  • Oil containing THC is a regulatory and legal challenge
BetaCaryoPhyllene- BCP (from Copaiba)
  • No CB1 interaction (no psychoactive effects)
  • Same benefits as other Cannabinoids
  • CB2 direct interaction at very therapeutic levels
  • Therapeutic amounts present
Essential oils that contain cannabinoids:
  • Black pepper 21%
  • Melissa 13%
  • Ylang ylang 13%
