Geranium is an astringent circulatory oil, which makes it particularly superb for tissues and skin and for numbing discomfort. It is thought to speed wound healing (perineum, circumcision, and C-section), support tissues with bleeding and correct varicose abnormalities, as well as for dry or yellowing skin and yeasty conditions. It relieves lymphatic congestion and fluid retention, which supports swelling during pregnancy and the regulation of body fluids after delivery. Geranium is a favorite oil for troubled sleep and night waking; it works by regulating the cortisol secreted by the adrenal cortex and providing blood sugar support.  Think of it for people who get a second wind at night or those with adrenal fatigue and sleep debt.  In pregnancy and postpartum, geranium can be used effectively for almost every symptom related to breast health, including: tenderness, milk regulation, engorgement, sore nipples, and heat and swelling. It is one of the best essential oils for lactation.  Emotionally, geranium is calming, uplifting, and sedative, improving mental clarity and the ability to cope with stress, anxious feeling, and postpartum blues.

PRECAUTIONS:

Avoid astringents with elevated blood pressure and some believe to avoid with a history of estrogen dependent cancer, though it might actually be indicated for this condition.
